PEP is designed to provide the young child with a stimulating Christian learning environment. The opportunity for interacting with other children in a setting conducive to the development of wholesome social, educational and spiritual needs of the child as an individual -- promoting the growth of the child's self-esteem at every opportunity. All PEP teachers emphasize to the children the importance of Jesus in our lives.

The children participate in scheduled learning activities with themes. The introduction and use of the alphabet, numbers, shapes and spatial concepts are ongoing. Classroom centers include science, art, cooking, stories, music, dramatic play, housekeeping, puzzles and fine and gross motor skill developmental play. A fenced playground especially designed for the preschool child, as well as one designed for older children, is available during their physical education period.

The three and four-year old classes use a curriculum which consists of reading, math and writing readiness activities. Occasional field trips will also be included. Parents will be notified prior to each trip taken.

Learning activities, stories, center play and music with emphasis on rhythm, song, and dance are planned for the Toddler thru Kindergarten groups. As soon as the children can accomplish simple craft making or artwork, the teachers include such an activity as part of their day.

Music classes are conducted by the music teacher twice a week for toddlers through Kindergarten. The use of rhythm instruments, bells, drama with song and story, listening skills, and memorization of lyrics all come together for a well-rounded music experience.

All children start each school day with Chapel. This is a time of stories and songs encouraging group participation led by the Director and teachers. Chapel is always ended with a prayer. This time is also used for scheduling "Community Helpers" (i.e., Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Dentists, etc.) to talk about topics relative to what the children are learning.

A curriculum outline is available to parents. Lesson plans are on file in the Director's office. We at PEP are excited and proud to teach the children. The foundation of a positive Christian education is of utmost importance to the Church and to PEP.

The Preschool Enrichment Program (PEP) and Kindergarten is sponsored by Meadowbrook United Methodist Church. As a non-profit organization, proceeds are returned to the school to purchase the latest learning aids and equipment for the classrooms and the playgrounds. PEP is a vital part of the Church's goal in programs of ministry, service and outreach to the community.
